Matthew has demonstrated a strong passion for the game of baseball since a young age, dedicating himself to the sport through years of playing at various levels. Starting out in recreational leagues at the age of three, he quickly progressed to travel baseball, honing his skills and competitive spirit from seven to eighteen years old.

During his time at Lancaster Christian Academy, Matthew showcased his talent on the varsity team, earning a spot on the roster as a sophomore and continuing to contribute until his senior season. His commitment to the sport led him to further his career at Providence Christian College in Pasadena, CA, where he played for two years.

Throughout his collegiate experience, Matthew compiled impressive career statistics, boasting a .286 batting average, 45 stolen bases, and a remarkable .967 fielding percentage. His dedication to excellence on the field was recognized during his sophomore season when he was awarded the Gold Glove for Center Field in his conference.
